Listen to this episode of the Retail Transformation Show podcast and discover:

  • Why experiencing and recognising problems in your transformation is a good situation.
  • How the fear of failure might inadvertently be encouraging failure to occur.
  • The three truths about transformation challenges and what you must consider in turn.

The three truths and key considerations

In the episode, Oliver presented three truths and important considerations when it comes to the inevitable challenges in your transformation initiatives.

Truth 1: Challenges are unlikely to resolve itself without intervention

Key considerations:

  • How will you recognise if your transformation efforts are running into problems?
  • Does your organisation have a plan and approach to reinvigorate change?
  • How you can accelerate to gain lost ground?

Truth 2: People have tried their best (but they may lack the skills and experience to drive transformation)

Key considerations:

  • How are you supporting people as they embark on or continue on their journey of transformation, especially if they’re not transformation specialists?
  • Where do you stand on the “Trust Wager” – do you trust by default or do people need to earn your trust?

Truth 3: Failed change isn’t bad. Avoidable failed change is.

Key considerations:

  • How are you supporting and even encouraging people to fail?
  • Are you identifying the avoidable and unavoidable roadblocks in your initiatives?
  • Are there current projects and changes which should be stopped?
